Audition Process:
Ready to rock the stage? Our audition process will include three parts:
- Singing Audition – Show off your vocal skills! Prepare a short musical theater or rock song that highlights your voice and energy.
- Acting Audition – Bring your best character work! You will be asked to read sides from the script that we will provide.
- Dance Audition – Get ready to move! We’ll teach a short routine to assess your ability to groove and perform with confidence.
We’re looking for performers of all skill levels who bring passion, energy, and a love for rock ‘n’ roll!
ADULTS
Calling all adults! We’re looking for a dynamic cast to bring School of Rock to life — lead roles, ensemble, and everything in between! Whether you’re a seasoned performer or new to the stage, we want YOU.
- Dewey Finn – (Male, adult) An overly ambitious, rock-obsessed, under achiever. A highly energetic and comedic role.
- Rosalie Mullins – (Female, adult) An uptight and highly strung headmistress of an elite school. Driven by success and prestige. However, inside lives a caged, rock and roll lover.
- Ned Schneebly – (Male, adult/young adult) Substitute teacher and former band member of Dewey’s, Ned has decided to take a the ‘responsible’ road in life and has given up his dreams of becoming a rock legend. Desperate for the approval of his partner, Patty, even if it goes against his core beliefs.
- Patty Di Marco – (Female, adult/young adult) The loving but dominating partner of Ned, Patty is constantly trying to mold Ned into the person she thinks he should be. Hates Dewey and wants him out of her and Ned’s life.
- Mrs. Sheinkopf – (Female, adult/young adult) Mrs. Sheinkopf has been at Horace Green for as long as anyone can remember. Her years of service have not softened her.
- Various Roles – (young adults/adults/mature adults) An adult ensemble will play the remaining roles with cast expected to fill multiple roles were possible. Ensemble will need great characterization and comedic skills, some basic movement, and strong vocal abilities.
CHILDREN
Call all rockstars ages 11 to early teens! We’re looking for talented kids to take the stage in School of Rock. If you love to sing, act, or dance, this is your time to shine! Ability to play an instrument is encouraged, but not required for these roles.
- Summer Hathaway – (Female, child/early teen) Highly intelligent, over achieving and overly controlling student with a demanding presence. Holds high expectations and standards for herself and everyone around her. Suspicious of Dewey and his unorthodox teaching ways.
- Tomika – (Female, child/early teen) A new student at Horace Green, her fathers are failing to see that she is struggling to fit in. Withdrawn and shy but with an underlying enthusiasm and desire to be part of the band. Blows everyone away when she sings.
- Zack Mooneyham – (Male, child/early teens) A highly gifted musician and songwriter but struggles to connect with his overbearing workaholic father.
- Freddie Hamilton – (Male, child/early teens) A boy who is happy to be released. This is the kid who comes from a working-class background and, unlike many of his classmates, was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His father (who is not happy about Freddie’s obsession with music) never lets him forget it.
- Katie – (Female, child/early teen) Distinguished by her talent for the bass, Katie takes on being in the band like a fish to water. Energetic, enthusiastic with a lot of rhythm and attitude.
- Lawrence – (Male, child/early teen) A shy, awkward boy, unconfident and gauche, but a genius on the keyboard who needs a free spirit like Dewey to lead him out of the darkness.
- Marcy – (Female, child/early teen) Back-up singer with style.
- Shonelle – (Female, child/early teen) Back-up singer with style.
- Billy Sandford – (Male, child/early teen) A boy with a marked artistic flair
